I Set My Soles On the Ground of Being

I set my soles on the ground of being,
my soul on the ground of Your being (Oh God).
Whereforever thou goest I wish to go
Whichever way the world tilts,
there with You, I wish to be.
No matter what slides off the deck
of my sinking ship
No matter how I fly by centrifugal force
from my imagined course,
You are my rudder.
And in shambles or ecstasy
You are my Holy Ground.
I know there is a primal goodness beneath all things
that ultimately steers us all toward love.
The watchfires of the night
I glimpse in sacred moments, it
calms the waves of worry
in this
