Short Waiter

This was written for Tadin when he was two, about him and his older brother, Tymon.

October 20, 2009

The little hands separate vanilla wafers from chocolate
until the plate holds only vanilla.
Then gripping with care,
both sides of the plate,
reaching high high,
way above eye level to bring the plate down,
The small waiter so carefully
so painstakingly,
(vanilla wafers sliding off,
leaving a trail like the stones of Hansel and Gretel)
staggers down the stairs
to his brother on the carpet watching Disney.
2 and 7, united in cookies and Goofy.

Kimmy Sophia Brown has loved humor and music for as long as she can remember. She writes the column "From the Back Porch" as well as reviews of music in her column "MusicViews". Her goal in her music reviews is to introduce music she loves to people who may not have heard that particular artist or CD. For information about how to submit a CD for review, click here.
