My dear friend called. She said, “We drove to Idaho for the eclipse. We camped. It was the most amazing thing. A black hole in the sky in the middle of the day. We saw the stars, the weird light, it was beautiful, the most incredible experience of my life. I cried and cried.” I stopped and thought about that day. I was not in the direct line of the event. I cooked food and drove a car for repair. I kind of looked up when the light on the trees got eerie and strange. I didn’t pay attention, I was occupied with things. Then my friend told me that it was glorious, even holy. I thought how often I miss things because I’m not paying attention. To see the stars in the daytime. To notice I am on a planet in space. Now. Today. Miracles all around me. Holy holy holy.
