Six Ways Mushrooms Can Save the World
~ Ted Talk by author and scientist Paul Stamets ~
Mar 3, 2015
Paul Stamets is a scientist, an inventor, and the author of Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Save the World, as well as other books. His observations about the eco-system in old growth forests and the various kinds of mushrooms and their purpose are nothing short of miraculous. He explains the unique qualities of mushrooms: their advanced communication systems, how they can filter water, be used to grow food, fight disease, be used for pest control, and possibly even be used to create a fuel source. This is a relatively short video (about eighteen minutes) but its depth is incredibly inspiring.
